Richard studied at the Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine between 1981 and 1988, graduating B.Sc. (Honours) First Class in 1985 followed by a Ph.D. in 1988.
A co-founder of Sci-Tron Limited, Richard is also Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Manchester, a position he has held since October 2000 with roles in this time including Director of the Photon Science Institute, Head of Inorganic Research Group, Director of Teaching (School of Chemistry) and Associate Dean for Research (Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences).
Richard’s major research interests include Synthesis and Studies of Nanoscale Polynuclear Metal Complexes; Molecular Magnets; Coordination Chemistry; and Nanolithography.
Over his career to date, Richard has had 380 research papers published, in press or accepted for publication, with a citation record of 17,953 career citations and a h-index of 71.
